Traffic congestion in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is a large and modern city, where there are many companies, factories, which causes traffic congestion.
 The population in Abu Dhabi has grown which means the number of cars per house has increased and each person in a family has at least two cars; most companies which are working indoors or outdoors have their own cars. If you take a look in Abu Dhabi when there is construction it will cause heavy traffic. Police report that the most serious accidents are caused by young drivers so they must educate them. Also the concentration of firms and colleges should be relocated off the island.
The best solution is to make existing roads better with bridges, tunnels and overpasses. Another solution is to educate the drivers before they get a license plus staggered startup and finishing time to avoid congestion; another thing is to relocate government offices and businesses away from the island. If there is a metro they can give offers for the companies to encourage them to use the metro. Paid parking has helped to reduce traffic congestion.
As you can see it’s hard to get the best solution but we can minimize the traffic congestion.

Obesity in the UAE

One of the major problems in the UAE is obesity, because more than 70% of Emiratis are overweight.
 Most families face the same thing. After all of that we will see that the main reason Obesity, diet, lifestyle and education. One of the chief causes is diet. Young Emiratis eat more and more high-carbohydrate, high-fat burgers and pizza in fast-food restaurants. However, some traditional foods are also very oily, and also people are eating more without burning off by exercise. If this happens regularly there is potential of becoming obese. Lifestyle also is one of the main reasons of obesity. As a result of cheap foreign labour, many Emiratis now have sedentary jobs, and do not exercise regularly. Obesity can lead to heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions.

Obesity or even being overweight has serious effects on the individual and the society. Both need to take action to examine the causes of this problem and find solutions

Top Ten Date-Producing Countries, 2001

                         

I am going to write about the top countries which were producing dates and it’s in 2001 as shown in this bar chart.

We can see that only Egypt and Iran exceeded the 800,000 tonnes and only Egypt produced over  1,000,000 .In another direction we see that Libya had the lowest production and it is less than 200,000 tonnes. The third country after Egypt and Iran is the UAE and it is producing over 750,000 tonnes and Saudi Arabia is the fourth country. Pakistan is near to Iraq’s production as the fifth country.

Algeria produced over 300,000 tonnes and it came as the sixth one. After Algeria is Oman which was producing over 200,000 tonnes and less than 250,000 tonnes and it came as the seventh country. In the end Sudan came before Libya and it produced over than 150,000 tonnes.

From that record we can see the big gap between the greatest and the lowest date production which means that 6 countries produced more than half a million tonnes and two countries produced less than 200,000 tonnes.

Valentine's Day Gifts

I am going to write about the types of gifts that men and women in the USA buy for each other on Valentine’s Day.

From these graphs we can see that cards, candy and flowers are coming at the top of the list. Then 10% of men and 9% of women bought jewelry. The perfume/cologne came as the sixth choice.

Spa/personal was 6% and 1% for men and women respectively.

The lingerie was the last choice for both of them.

In general it was great to find that these different choices were because of the money availability of different people.    

UK budget in 1996

The UK government gave each section a budget which was £315 billion in 1996 and which it is shown in the given pie-chart.

Social security was the highest category and it was £100 billion. The transport gets £9 billion which mean that it was the lowest category.

Health and personal social services was £53 billion

 and education got £38 billion.In that year defence got £22 billion. Debt interest was £25 billion and other expenditure was £23 billion. Industry, agriculture and employment had £13 billion only in this high budget .Law and order got £17 billion.

Finally, different amounts of budget were given to each section to show some improvement and meet the need of the UK residents.      

A journey from Brunei to Sarawak

Thirty years ago, Hedley, with his wife Mary and daughter Katie, visited the Niah caves in Sarawak, East Malaysia. They traveled by car, boat and ferry.

They set off from Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei and drove to the border with Sarawak. They crossed two large rives by ferry, stopped In Miri for lunch and then continued to Niah, a small river township. Thin they hired a small boat and sailed upriver to a government rest house, where they spent the night. They ate with the small group of scientists who lived in the rest house and shared the cold drinks they had brought with them in a cool box. It was a remote spot, deep in the jungle. They slept in bunk beds with no airconditioning. It was a novel experience.

The next morning, they walked along a jungle path for half an hour until they reached the Niah caves. Inside the caves, which were very high, they saw men who climbed up tall bamboo poles. The men wore lights on their hats because it was so dark. At the top of the poles they scraped off birds’ nests from the roof of the caves. The nests were collected by their mates on the cave floor and packed into sacks. These nests were later sold and made into bird’s nest soup, a Chinese delicacy.

That afternoon, they said goodbye to their new-found friends in the rest house and set off on the long drive home. It was quite an adventure and one they would never forget.
